Director – Finance & Accounting

Job Summary:

GovPath is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and results-driven Director of F&A to oversee all financial and accounting operations for GovPath. As the Director of F&A, you will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, overseeing budgeting and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and driving financial strategies that support business growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, accounting operations, and reporting for the organization.

  • Manage a small team and the overall month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate financial statements and reporting.

  • Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial analyses. Support M&A and strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis and forecasts.

  • Partner with Department heads to successfully transform business during acquisitions.

  • Lead the development and implementation of budgeting and forecasting processes, working with department heads to align financial goals with operational objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and all relevant tax regulations.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring that audits are conducted smoothly and findings are addressed.

  • Develop and implement financial controls and policies to safeguard company assets and ensure operational efficiency.

  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.

  • Manage cash flow and optimize working capital by monitoring financial performance, identifying trends, and recommending adjustments as necessary.

  • Evaluate financial performance and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to drive business performance and growth.

  • Lead and mentor a team of finance & accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)

  • CPA (required)

  • Proven experience (5-7+ years) in a Corporate F&A or Senior Accounting / Auditing Role, with a strong understanding of financial management and accounting principles.

  • Big 4 accounting or equivalent experience (preferred)

  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with internal controls & audits.

  • M&A / Financial Due-Diligence, Deal-Advisory experience

  • Small business experience – working for or auditing small business (preferred)

  • Private equity experience (preferred)

  • Proficient in accounting software (SAGE Intacct) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
